ALL ABOUT US
WHO CAN JOIN SCOUTS?
Boys can begins scouts when they are in first grade. They are Tigers. Older boys may join the appropriate level without having been in Scouts before. Second graders are Wolves, third graders are Bears, fourth graders are Webelos-1 and fifth graders are Webelos-2.WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO JOIN?
Come to a sign-up night, Pack meeting, or contact the Cubmaster. Fill out a joining form and pay your fees and we'll get you in a Den.WHAT OTHER COSTS OR EXPECTATIONS ARE THERE?
Your Scout will need a book for his age group and the proper uniform. There are informational handouts that describe this in detail. Most Dens have Den dues that cover all Den expenses for the year but these are nominal. Pretty much everything else is covered except special events like the Blue and Gold Banquet.WHO RUNS THE PACK?
The Pack is organized and supervised by a Chartered Organization - Sunnyside Elementary Booster Club for us. A Committee composed of a Committee Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Advancement Chair, the Cubmaster, the Den Leaders, and special project chairs runs the business of the Pack.WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO AS A PARENT?
The Pack leadership is entirely voluntary and it's not good to have the same people doing all the work all the time. We'll ask you to help out on a Committee, assist or be a Den Leader, etc. There are many opportunities to get involved and not all of them require a great deal of time. Think of it as a great investment in your future... the values of Scouting instilled in your son and you being there to share in his growth experiences.WHAT WILL MY BOY BE DOING?
Events are scheduled far in advance. Expect two to three Den meetings per month, a field trip on occasion, and a monthly Pack Meeting. It is important that you try to attend all the scheduled events to keep your Scout on track with the rest of the group. In addition there may be some family items that you'll work on together at home since not all advancement items can be done in Den time.CAMPING:
Pack 3316 encourages Cub Scouts to begin their camping experience. In the summer we attend our District's Day Camp and those boys who finished their Tiger and Wolf year attend. Bear Camp is for those boys who have finished their Wolf Year and is at Camp Naish for two days and one night. Webelos Camp is for boys who have completed the Bear year or their Webelos-1 year and is three days and two nights at Camp Naish. Additionally we usually have a Pack family campout in the summer.
Two District events are a highlight of the year. Webelos usually attend Camporee in October each fall with a host Scout Troop and camp on a Saturday night. In conjunction with this campout there is a Cub Family overnight campout on the Friday night of that weekend. Saturday there are activities planned for both Cubs and Webelos. It's great fun!Our Scouting District is the Red-Tailed Hawk District.

We believe strongly in the values of Scouting and hope you'll want to make them part of your son's life experiences!
